After what started out as an abysmal year, Chase Briscoe has rallied all spring and summer to get himself back up in the points and now is a winner in 2026.
Briscoe held off his teammate Christopher Bell to win NASCAR’s return to Chicagoland Speedway, in a finish almost reminiscent of the 2018 thriller right here in Joliet.
The finish of the race came down to a long green flag run, where green flag pit stops dictated the stage for the final run on tires and fuel. James Small elected to bring the No. 19 down pit road one lap earlier than the No. 24 of William Byron, and it paid dividends. Briscoe built a lead and held off the No. 20 for his first win of the year.
Denny Hamlin survived a late skid of the wall to still finish third, getting by Byron late in the running to grab that spot, and more points on Tyler Reddick who had a mechanical failure and lost a huge chunk of points once again.
Alex Bowman, the defending winner of this race from 2019, finished fifth in a huge run for the No. 48 team.
Bubba Wallace, Ryan Blaney, Ty Gibbs, Corey Heim, and Riley Herbst rounded out the top 10 finishers.
