With every odd possible stacked against him, Ryan Preece did the unthinkable on Saturday night at Daytona International Speedway and won his way into The Chase in an unbelievably chaotic final lap that ended under caution.

Preece ran up front for the majority of the night, including the finish to stage one where things looked bleak after him and teammate Chris Buescher were wrecked coming to the line. Thankfully, Preece’s No. 60 was not too beat up and he returned to the race.

Shane van Gisbergen now is the odd man looking in as he has to settle for a 28th place finish amongst the carnage, not letting him compete for a championship this season.

Daniel Suarez finished in the runner-up spot, with reigning Daytona 500 champion Tyler Reddick in third. Michael McDowell and Ricky Stenhouse Jr rounded out the top five finshers.
